22 years after September 11th
22 years after, the day still lingers in our minds The trauma of that day we can never leave behind We remember those lives we lost that we morn Their remembrance will live on, never to be forlorn We pause and reflect on that fateful September day The tragedy that befell that will never go away We remember the heroes who risked their lives To save us from such suffering and strife 22 years after, we still stand strong For the lives of those who are gone Let us mourn in peace and never forget That tragic day forever altered the nation. We will never forget the pain and the grief, For nearly ten years, we never found relief. But even in the nighttime, light can still shine, That love and hope will forever intertwine. So 22 years after, the U.S. still stands tall, Our courage, strength, and hope won’t fall. For a better future, we look forward with glee, And the legacy of 9/11 will live on eternally. Never forget those lost lives that helped others, Like those 67 John Jay community members. We remember when the towers and Pentagon fell, The horror and terror that is difficult to recall.
