Let Me Grow Up
I want to be able to drive a car I can go anywhere I want to be I want to go and drink at a bar I can do anything when I am free I want to grow up so I can be old Not like an old man where I can't walk I can go wherever without being told do things while not watched like a hawk But when I talk to you I don't care I never want to grow up or be old There's nothing I can think of more fair Than giving you my jacket in the cold I want to talk with you under a tree We could walk anywhere holding hands It's only us, it's just you and me We go to the beach, our toes in the sands I could laugh for hours in the dark Instead of going to some fancy dinners I would much rather play in the park And I think we would be the real winners I could send you letters instead of bills I can ask my mom and dad for money We can get fast food with infinite refills Or even just have a picnic when it's sunny But I can't always be a kid forever Everyone must grow up someday I wish the time we part came never But alas, even the skies turn gray For the first time in forever, I won't be alone They say that Love's and open door But this growing just won't postpone And I will always love your more.
