Appreciation
"The deepest longing in the human heart is the desire for appreciation."--William James A halo of treetops rings the cyan river, as it trips and rolls down Gaia's branches; a gentle song to set my spirit aquiver, surrounded by autumn's chromatic patches. Parchments dive to play their last days, like journeying across the river Styx; they glimmer in the sun's light-play mimics falling children’s toy bricks. Above, the clouds display their glamour, as Sol peeks through the cottony puffs; Soft trills erupt from the yellowhammer, from a tree limb on the nearby bluff. Appreciative for gifts that nature's given, my spirit echoes His elated song. Just like an ancient English Sylvan, I hear reveling waters sing along. Beyond treetops, spirit flies untethered, a feeling of warm expansion enters my chest. My appreciation cannot be measured, wondering if God and I have somehow coalesced. My heart is full, filled with a peaceful inner glow, and I pause, offering a prayer of thanks. For nature’s gifts upon earth, He doth bestow; with hand over my heart, I float above the riverbanks. While traversing the interminable blue sky, a gentle wind whistles past my ears. I listen carefully, waiting for a reply, And serenity washes over me squelching my fears. Joyful tears stream down my face; appreciation wears the colors of my spirit. I drink in the moment, not wanting to leave this place, grateful being in heaven or almost near it.
