ONE MAILBOX AT A TIME- THE SEQUEL
Yesterday I posted a poem about our Volkswagen mailbox- on which Deborah painted symbols of flowers, butterflies and a dove It’s our subtle way of stating we hope for a world filled with peace and love. When we finally mounted out mailbox with its variety of bright colors- reds blues yellow’s and pinks we couldn’t wait for Eric our mailman to arrive… couldn’t help but wonder what he’d think. Deborah was excited when she saw him driving down the street. She ran to the window and paused… She was like a child sneaking a peek at Christmas waiting for Santa Claus. When Eric got to our mailbox and began to open the door Deborah felt the pride inside her glow… until the headlights and VW symbol we added there… fell to the street below. It was an inauspicious beginning for our peace and love paradigm… for how we are going to change the world- one mailbox at a time. Once Eric left- we remained undaunted… We knew what we had to do… We replaced the headlights and the VW symbol using a strong and powerful glue. It was a little lesson about how peace and love are not only wonders to behold but how they need our constant care and attention if they are ever to take hold.
