Heaven, spare me from Fate's treason
A chameleon art thou conceal that can And camouflage, the truth around to fake, That still can't save itself from a sly snake… In treason O Fate hast thou dealt with man. O stutter not with that mask so jaded, Gossamer veils that little can conceal, Much less thy guilt, thy delusive façade, Ye have ended up much more to reveal. Wish, I had not bitten that baited Fruit Of lure ye planted in Eden Garden, And stayed the same good old innocent brute In utter bliss…. But for my Temptation! If ye had had an uncanny reason To mislead men, what’s it if not treason? ______________________________________ Sonnet | 03.12.2007 | heaven, treason Poet’s note: This piece wonders on the ways of Fate, on Temptation, forbidden fruit, and Maya's play. Fate, it seems, likes to watch on till we commit crime, and once the ill deed is done, catch us late, late on Judgement Day!
