How Many In The Four Tops?
I may be gormless And it may be true But just how many were there In the band? I forgot So I'm asking you? Their beautiful music is a gift to me And a part of my life growing up And made my own history Sweet as Sugar Pie honey bunch And so savoury I recall as a wisp of a child Playing their albums until I almost wore them out Sneakedly and secretly When my older Blister Was out or at work If she had found out She would have killed me And gone completely berserk! As princes they wore the wonderful Motown crown I even got to see them perform on stage In Sheffield UK my own town My workmates and I were so excited We got so carried away A ''woman'' behind us Told us off and to shut up! "'I've come to hear and paid to see them Not you!" I got the impression she was angry And realised it was true The concert will stay in my heart forever And when it's recalled will always makes my heart smile Such talent like theirs is very rare And never goes out of style After the wonderful concert was over I thought I was in a dream That had now come true And such a treasure As I had never knew I ran to the front of the stage And shook all their hands And never washed my hands for a week or two Long gone but not forgotten sadly They are apart from one as I know Are at rest They and their music will live on forever Because they were the best Peter Dome©2024.
