Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required Slaves to Righteousness continued But thanks to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you are now entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:17-18 I put this in human terms for you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer of your body in slavery impurity and to do ever-increasing wicked ness, so now offer them to in slavery to righteousness of holiness. [ Slavery to purity] When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteous ness. [free from being slaves to righteousness for you were still slaves to sin] Romans 6: 19-20 What benefit did you reap at the time when from the things you are now ashamed of? [Did living as slaves to wickedness reap any lasting benefits?] Those things now result in death! [Eternal spiritual death and eternal separation from God!] But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit that you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. [The benefits of eternal life far outweigh the condemnation of sins leading to eternal death. Romans 6:21-22 ***For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 Life Through the Spirit ***Therefore there is no condemnation [eternal death] for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by sinful nature, God did by sending his Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. [Jesus paid the sin's penalty of eternal death, by being a perfect one of a sacrificial offering for our sins.] And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements requirements of the law might be fully meant in us, who did not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1-4 [Those believers among us, not living to our former sinful natures, but according to requirements of the law--have fully meant its requirements. We are set free from the very law of sin and death.] Those living according to their sinful nature have their mind set upon what their sinful nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set upon what the Spirit requires.
