I am a poet - part one
In a world of modern verse, I stand, An old-fashioned poet, rhymes in hand. I savour the dance of words on a page, Where rhythm and meter command the stage. Each stanza unfurls, and tales are told, With rhymes and cadence, stories unfold. With patience and care, I craft each line, A tapestry of words, finely entwined. For I'm a poet of days long gone, Where verses sang in harmonious song. A sonnet, a ballad, a villanelle's grace, These classic forms, my heart does embrace. I seek inspiration in nature's sweet hold, Leaves whisper secrets, the moonlight unfolds. Through meadows I wander, along the shore, Imbibing the beauty that stirs my core. With wild imagination, my soul takes flight, Crafting verses to bring solace and light. For in the old-fashioned lies timeless charm, An elegance, a refuge from all world's harm. Let the world revel in its modern sway, I'll honour tradition, come what may. For in rhymes and rhythm, my heart finds bliss, As an old-fashioned poet, I will persist. In each couplet, a story unfurls, A symphony of words, treasures and pearls. With every stanza, a world comes alive, Where this old-fashioned poet can thrive. End part one ***
