The power of the words said on sight of you
'You are right' I wrote Meaningless and ignored Just about a NY Times game But what about 'Hi, I'm home'? I miss pleasantries out all the time It could be the way I've done something Maybe years in the making And subtly my fault The dog is new (ish) He only knows this version of me The one that announces my arrival Greetings are funny anyway I like to skip them, maybe I said that? I've a habit of skipping them on Reception But I did say 'good morning' on Friday I'm all proud of myself when I do :) And I was greeted back, with a song! S sang 'good morning to you' Less Marilyn, more birthday party But I replied 'what a treat' Smiled up the stairs She's tried for years to teach me I feel my reward has embedded my learning I'm a convert, probably It's all a bit weird being empty or full Just depending on words said on the sight of you Or the lack of words on the sight of you Or the close down of words as you're saying them I'm sick to my stomach But the dog is here And I'll ask him how lovely his ears are Enquire just how cute he is And think about it some more
