Do You Dare Believe
Living every day, wondering why I stay, never really knowing why I’m here. Singing every song, always going wrong, feeling like I always live in fear. Hating what I see, wanting more to be something that I know I can become. Searching for a way, waiting for the day, hoping that the truth will finally come. I’ve heard it time and time again but never let it sit - “you have to give in order to receive.” Considering how my life has gone, I’m left to look inside and face the question, “do you dare believe?” Fearing what will come, afraid of looking dumb, wondering what my peers are gonna think. Falling when I try, looking to the sky, slipping ever closer to the brink. Holding what I can, leaning on the man, learning things that open up my eyes. Looking at myself, the baggage on the shelf, seeing there’s no room for compromise. And so I hear it once again, this time I let it sit - “you have to give in order to receive.” Considering what the future holds, I’ve nothing left to do but face the question, “do you dare believe?” Not caring anymore. I’m walking out the door, placing both my feet upon the trail. Never looking back, no thought of what I lack, believing with the Lord I’ll never fail. Watching it unfold, a story to be told, Doing what it takes to help a friend. Walking hand in hand, fulfilling what was planned, knowing what awaits me in the end. But looking out across it all, I’m glad I let it sit - “you have to give in order to receive.” Cause when you do, you're not alone he’s always got your back. And so I ask you, “do you dare believe?”
