The Ancient Druid
The Druid lived far from people in a simple cave once or twice a year he came down to sell his potions trinkets and bits and bops said to cure all ills. He would sit with others friends and rascals yet drink one and all under the table and with majestic gait walk away a brave few decided to follow him yet fell by the way side unable to keep up until the path started gentle out a bit. Only one person had been able to keep him in eyesight and now too he had lost Volmer he just seemed to vanish One minute there, the next gone like a puff of smoke Balgar searched high and low for Volmer finding not a trace He was here he thought right here so where could he be? He closed his eyes and stuck out his hands he could feel air moving in front of him and followed it suddenly everything went quiet he slowly opened his eyes and found himself in a vast low cavern with a beam of light in the distance he went towards it, when Volmer spoke he jumped and peered at the Ancient druid who said you have passed the 1st test but the way is long and can be very hard Now get some rest you are bound to need it. Day 2 dawned Balgar sleepily stirred as he felt a poke from Volmer's staff Now you need to learn the druid way if you wish to follow me I near the end of life while you are at the start two roads ahead of you one wrong the other right Sit, close your eyes and be guided by your senses. So Balgar sat letting loose his senses gradually the paths appeared he went towards them and stood in front waiting for a sign. When a gentle nudge came he followed it and the path shone with golden light well done now you must collect a silk feather and a piece of blue shell Balgar followed the path and came across a young bird being attacked by a demon he chased it away and tended to the birds wounds the bird gave him a silk feather and pointed out an abounded nest where he found the needed shell. He took them to Volmer who said well done I see you are to be my student I still have much to teach you and my time here is short. Each day Volmer taught something new to Balgar which he used as a druid, alas as he taught him he himself weakened until he could no longer stand. Balgar carried him to the hot springs so he could cleanse himself then dress in his ceremonial robes with a great cry Volmer struck the rock and disappeared into the dark his purpose here done and and the reins passed on to Balgar
