MY LONG LIFE
I have lived a long life of 86 years, now I relive my past memories of hopes and dreams when I was young and thoughts of success abounded as well as lascivious ideas of encounters with sex Sitting beside a wide open window needing paint the slowly moving clouds did not seem in a hurry and neither did my energy Before, I relaxed carefree in the sultry afternoon But as a youth I knew my future lay ahead with a myriad of human experiences carefully planned but outside my house a different, raucous world existed and like men busy working to overtake tomorrow I worried Beings living in lovely green mint flavored woods look on me with curious stares, a Monarch Butterfly flutters its wings flap silently not wanting to disturb the peace the world dies in the roar of cannons the butterfly has no guilt Wild creatures do not contribute to the chaos, they choose Nature I look forward to my next experience in the unknown but we, on this earth, will not cower in the dark shaking in fear of the inevitable; it will be what it will be Yet, we tremble with trepidation; we are flawed Even in this hour of Man’s consummate violence we stand in awe of his unbelievable stupidity and inhumanity he displays against each other But we, the 'learned', will show no fear only compassion Evil will do what Evil does for a short minute but goodness will prevail as it is in God’s Matrix, this I know, my old creakin' bones tell me so.
