John 16-17 Q and A and Commentary part three
Q: Why is Jesus comparing his departure to a woman's child birth? John 16:21. A: A woman giving birth to a child has pain; but when her baby is born she forgets her anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. So with you: John 16:21-22. Q: How is Jesus further explaining to them about their times of grief? John 16:22. A: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. John 16:22. Q: When the time of his departure has finally come. How is he going to be able to answer their requests they will be making to him? John 16:23 A: In that day you will no longer ask me anything, I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you have asked in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you shall receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16:23-24 Q: Why is Jesus going to speaking to them plainly and not figuratively from now on? John 16:25. A: "Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying I will ask the Father on your behalf. John 16:25-26. Q: Why does the Father also love his disciples? John 16:27. A: No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I have came from the Father and have entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father. " John 16: 27-28. Than Jesus disciples said," Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. [Which he previously had obviously not done.] Now we can see that you know all things and you do not need anyone to ask you questions. This makes us think that you came from God. John 16:29-30 [Finally, the Holy Spirit's caused their light bulbs to turn on inside the disciples heads, by causing them to clearly to understand their Lord Jesus Christ.] Q: After Jesus replied, "You believe at last,"why did He say they would leave him all alone? [and completely by himself without them.] John 16:31:32. A: But a time is coming and has come. when you will be scattered, each to his own home. You will all leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. John 16:32 Roxanne Lea Dubarry Roxy Lea 1954 January 17-18, 2024
