Holes
I have holes in me, Where elated moments once blurred The reality and the dream, The winds and the seas, The joy and the grief. I have holes in me, Where colors can bleed Scarlet and cobalt, Violet becomes my destiny, While truth reaches beneath the weeds, Planting seeds of dandelion dreams. I have holes in me, Where robins speak, Betraying my need, Listening like the stars Who see through my façade, Into the blossoming melancholy. I have holes in me, Where darkness rises, Dancing with the oaks and pines, Risking every doubt, each fear, With milky laughter, Captivating even the night’s heart. I have holes in me, Where silence offends Disturbing the peace of friends, Who want to kiss away my fragile wings, With their well-meaning gifts, Their blessings ache to believe… Because they gave, I have changed – The holes have been stuffed with light, Glistening shards of hope My holes, jammed together, By generous souls who once thought – My holes could be mended, And, they let the light in, lingering To watch – as those holes continued To bring my life’s breathe. My holes – could it possibly be, Those holes – they’re the lessons, The faith and the freedom, The messages of a life lived better, Because my holes – just holes, Hold me all together!
