You wore a green dress, the colors of the night
You wore a green dress, the colors of the night, With the dimmed sparkle of stars burning out of sight. That evening, memory enveloped us around, Like a thin smoke, like a deep yearning that profoundly found. The moon had poured her waxen light, Upon your black shoulders, silent about her secret so tight. Your eyes were closed, but your soul would unfold, On your brow, a question waited, like a story untold. The forest, with its rustling leaves, sang an enigmatic tune, Foreign to me, unknown to you, but filled with a mystery boon. When you smiled, your smile became a kept memory, A sunrise in my heart, the morning light's treasury. Your movements were gentle, as if angel wings, And your slender fingers touched the very soulstring. And I had a thousand questions to ask, like raindrops to bestow, Questions that danced like fireflies around us, in playful glow. How, perhaps, only the restless sea could know, The secret of these depths, of glances that met slow. Those words, all, remained hanging like the forest's echo, Like whispers strung upon a delicate tale's thread below. One could hear it approaching us softly, in the deep quiet, Silence – like an unseen fox, but felt within the spirit. We were silent. You were silent. And the moon's timid rays, On your black shoulders, that evening, in silence and in love, stays.
