Second-hand Knowledge
The way she was standing So open ended The power she holds in just a glance I checked the notary with dexterity and the line in my head Saying “I’m not good enough for her” But I didn’t say I believed it (she does) Can I make it worth the energy I’ve spent here today? Keeping my shoulders tall And wide, so they can take the fall for me It seems so fitting now That you’ve put yourself on edge Your dress isn’t fitting now With the focus on your mental clarity On edge, With a lack of social awareness And no corresponding abilities Usually I’d say it’s in your head But this time, I think it couldn’t be clear enough What kind of person Chooses mind over eyes? I see the way you move so fluidly To end up back on the floor you started on She couldn't mask the fall With her attitude on edge Feeling open ended Back on the floor you started on (I’ll pray for you, just as much as you told me you loved me) So not much at all I’ve traded bad thoughts for cigarettes A new addiction to keep up Instead of you, now I fear They will degrade me naturally Still I’ll appear With shoulders tall And wide enough to take my fall Running lines through my head Like “you’re not good enough for her” Well I believe it now From the power she holds in just a glance, It’s suffocating I’ll keep myself warm with these cigarettes But the feelings always fading
