Teal Bricks, Indigo Wall
Let me hear that applause though I've done little to warrant it Time is a poor curative for what's fundamentally broken Brain's full pal, sorry, you've gotta go home Even though I'm the one who paid for you to come here Brick by brick, this wall began rising TikTok ticks, it shouldn't have been surprising That assuming victory from lazily enjoying poverty Would come to bite me when even poverty would be luxury What a world, huh? Given infinite possibilities, humanity joyfully chose the shackle Where the only difference between feudalism, serfdom and modern Is that I can look at cat pictures on my phone You're not smart for calling it a dumbphone I'm not enlightened in seeing it's Antoinette's dream given form You and I are the same Not through love of man, but having that love wielded against us So I prepare for a future I'd fought hard to avoid The prophesied path having vanished long before I could take it Where instead of buying a house when the bubble popped I was walking to school Teal bricks, indigo wall This shaking shack was built on the blues But I'm a poor crooner and a poorer player How about Wonderwall? You guys like Wonderwall? Much like the house I build We're all different shades of blue Pockmarked by our tragedies, our traumas The beautiful canvas on which we admire our life's painting But I suppose it's selfish to ask another to bear that burden Just as I have done such of poor job of bearing other's Are you watching? You know who you are. Even after my apology, I'm still wracked with that guilt Another teal brick, another indigo wall completed I guess it's presumptuous to assume I'll only build four We're all stacking bricks until the day they crush us So do I make the walls taller or just make more? It's the precipice of something new When that turtle swims away, when I eat this peach I have to move on from here This tree has made its last harvest So what'll it be, stranger? Kill or be killed? To risk Heaven early or preorder your ticket to Hell? There are some stains you can't wash out December's a cruel month The coldest and darkest of the year as I've told you before And just as I did seven years ago I can feel who I am dying in a snowstorm So stack another teal brick into this indigo wall And admire your handiwork with pride Because Spring's coming whether you like it or not And you're going to be there, no matter what.
