How Does It End
Wish there were pills to calm a racing heart One that longs for another heart to feel at peace Runs marathons just for a mere sight For a little dialogue to reignite the old spark An eye contact to strike those past rendezvous Mother Nature does me no good though And so, I bank on science to alter my state For a few pills that can help me unlove A bandage that can rip all the memories away Substances to inject and fill my veins with indifference Something to fix my crippled stride toward moving on To my misery, science stands equally helpless And so, I explore my chances with technology Where a time machine could do wonders If only it could teleport me a year and a half back And talk sense into my delusional mind Flash a hazard sign, warning me 'NOT AGAIN' Pull me back by the arm, ever so vigorously Whisper, 'Don't get attracted, don't get attached' Stop dreaming, you're hard to love somehow The warmth and companionship are short-lived; As temporary as a cool breeze in the Summer of June All that glitters is, in fact, fake gold Once it loses its shine, you'll lose your mind You'll have more to regret, less to reminisce You might pray to experience that shine for life But darkness is where your soul will reside Because sometimes, fulfillment is too much to ask for And so, I sit at four in the AM and PM With much despair and a little hope always accompanying me Where one chamber of my heart screams 'Enough already!' The other consoles, 'Be patient, your prayers might get answered' It's a war with no truce expected anytime soon But I shall keep negotiating with reality Till I see for myself, how it ends one day.
