This appointment
A false rush paved the way, amidst empty glasses and pizza boxes everyone had something to say. Mauve, green, white, and blue. A hint of banter. a connection flickered with you. Head lowered, fleeting glances, could have talked all night only if you didn’t miss all the chances. Felt special for maybe a second close, talking ignoring all flags that beckoned Should‘ve caught an earlier train, would’ve saved the anxiety, could’ve rested my overworked brain. But i stayed anyway, far side of the sofa, hoping you’d have something to say. watched you small talk with everybody, thinking to myself, “maybe he didn’t see me”. and then it suddenly dawned, you really don’t care, cause it’s not that hard to respond I was definitely a fool, thinking it was electric when the flip side was cruel nothing here, no chase this appointment just brings sadness to my face. Was the walk awkward for you as well? the boy who chatted with girls all night walked quietly and bid farewell.
