Sunjoy
Early morning. I stood on my porch slowly sipping a cup of tea while watching the sun rise over my neighborhood. The sunshine brings a glow to the foliage, to the grass, and to the blooms. It brings a warm lightness to the heads of the birds, a shine to their feathers of all colors. The sunshine, as dependable as the stars, comes at any time of year, illuminating summer meadows and alpine slopes all the same. That morning, the sunshine brings brilliance and warmth to everything it touches, reflecting a shimmer from the ends of my eyelashes and inviting my eyes to rest. The sunshine, as static as a photograph, is the energy of the world in one place or another at the same time. Yet, in the series of moments we call the passage of time, everything flows. Regardless of the season, sunshine is the way joy seeps into my skin, keeping my heart in ambient steady rhythm. I wish there was a word for the feeling it brings. How ‘bout calling it "sunjoy?" sunlight saunters, it burns shadows to vivid hues flows in graceful swirls golden rays of sun warmth on my skin, in my soul today’s sweet embrace golden orb above, radiance, warmth, and hope bring, life’s source shining bright
