Scared
You must of been so scared When you caught that stroke You must have been so scared When you gripped your shirt When you stumbled to the bed When I wasn’t there I was so scared When I heard about you I was so scared How could I save you How could I get that plane ticket Will I get a chance to say sorry I should’ve said I love you I brought you a coffee I should’ve wrote Send cards Did something I could’ve called I could’ve cared I could’ve said how was your day But the rent was late The kids were bad I burned the chicken The car broke again You must’ve been so scared When you heard they told me When you went to the hospital When you looked for me Among the faces of the family I was so scared when my flight was late When the storm came You were…thinking of me You thought I must’ve been so scared To rush to you So scared to cry So scared to admit I missed you You thought I must’ve been so sad To know you how sick you really were You thought At the last moment That I must’ve been so scared To finally make it there And the doctors tell me They’ve done all they can do There’s nothing more And I was so scared To lose you, Mom.
