The Promise
I stood by the tree this morning waiting for you to come and watching the clear blue sky with patches of white clouds passing by. Clouds fade into other clouds and dissolve into thin air but the mountain stood still beckoning to my will. I had an appointment to go somewhere, but there was no appointment or date, yet I was waiting at the big gate. It was hope that brought me there because I had something profound to share. It was deeper than I could imagine, I could not contain it I could not bear and I let it sink deep down into my gut and the morning with its soft dew spilling from the sky wet my lips and stir the passion from the sky. A new day had dawn and a long line of traffic starts pouring down the hill moving slowly to the rhythm of the morning. And the children come through the gate and start, screaming and shouting all over the place, and a sudden burst of energy fills the yard. It wasn’t the energy from the sun; it was the kind of energy that makes you want to run but nature contained it and saturate it beneath the heavens. The cars kept coming and lines gets longer and the whispers in the street start to disrupt my heartbeat, but courage kept me waiting on something that wasn’t there. There was no message on the phone, it was the same faces running around the town with a promise that is tucked in the sea. I kept hoping that you would pass by, and then I briefly heard a voice from above the sky and I turned around but you weren’t there, it was the voice of love that kept the promise up there.
