J M W Turner - Snow Storm 1842
strapped to the mast, I recite it so to show what I saw, I had to know no dramatisation of emotion took place I was there, my friend in that space eyes half closed, hope half lost I remained in situ, hung the cost experiencing peril, making it through I don't know why just something I do I tell it, paint it, not for you to understand we're all mere travellers in an unmapped land some see the landscape horizons and sky some see beyond it haze to decipher, untie to see not just out but inwards and deep memories forged in sanity's keep felt through a thread connection outside a cerebral quiver it's perhaps best to hide never far from the harbour safety in sight it doesn't detract from a long dark night ropes secure me physically survive though I'm always unraveling will never thrive I've seen the storm experienced the eye not laboured but battled of all I did try storm after storm even after the break each overwhelming oft more than could take to map out the sight the feel of the wave wake with the mist its power to save feel each brushstroke absorb the strive know this truth it's good to be alive
