I Said to My Therapist
I said to my therapist, “Permission to Exhale,” I made a wrong turn long ago. Where angels fled and my body bled a crimson colored rose. And as the clock ticks slowly My heart would skip a beat Alone inside my thoughts Still in disbelief. Trauma kills the spirit Brain goes numb from all the fear For no one knows the answers Tangled in a web of tears. Months and years pass by Gone’s the joy inside my soul Hardened from misfortune Hardened to the core. For in this world of discord To heal when all’s array Stuck inside my prison Left to the smell of decay. I can’t remember crying I can only remember the sound Deep inside my gut, Longing for hallowed ground. “Stand up,” she said, push shoulders back, Your day to heal has come Walk out the door Don’t turn around any more Plant your feet on higher ground.
