The Time of Righteous Justice Was Then At Hand, Part One
The Time Of Righteous Justice Was Then At Hand, Part One I woke, the damn horrid shadow was standing there Gleam in its hateful eyes, casting a deadly stare Its deadly claws dripping a bright-cast bloody red Its venomous whispers, saying, soon you be dead Rising from my bed, I asked why do you threat It replied, soon you will see true, I made my bet Then it gave forth that huge sardonic evil grin Shouting your sharp sword will not save you yet again Behind it, legion of demons laughing with glee All pointing their crooked, black fingers right at me For a mere moment I felt a deep twinge of fright Then I remembered, almighty god was my might My sharp sword was not mine but was his to command And behind his standard, I dare to take my stand! Robert J. Lindley, Sonnet(Part One) June 22nd, 1974 Old Note- I will finish this poem with a part two and possibly part three when I return. New Note- I found this old poem was in the batch of poems in the journal that I found in my oldest brother's attic. It was to be a three part series, being three sonnets in all, a trilogy. I've decided to write the remaining two sonnets to finish it when I return from my vacation. God bless, Robert
