Death Is a Promise Ring
The sun sets on the sorrow of mankind That slithers in the vein, crawls like a vine He wallows in the pit of those who succumb And travels through history beating his drum The blood from his armies stains his hand He'll march in parades, bring out the band He stands on a stage and claims there will be peace The reality is wars won't cease, and death will feast Paradise is sold as a shiny promise ring Yet, death and destruction are his bow's drawn string He finds greed and corruption are worth more than gold As blood flows from his hands, stained calloused, and cold Throughout the length of his journey death was his guest As he pounded his bleeding fists upon his chest Gray ashes pour from his lips from those who've bled As his hellish army crowds around fires mocking the dead He screams out in joy, I'm in power, so all can hear Then, he looks to the Heavens with a disgusted sneer
