Why Die For Peace
Beaten ships sailed in through the fog veil, Decks groaning in pain like dying soldiers. Grinning faces, still dirty, still pale. Their burdens had lifted off their shoulders. My son! My son! He had not yet returned. Only his dog tags were given to me. This news is heartbreaking, and I’m concerned, Only my wildest dreams thought this would be A true reality just as grim. We wept and mourned until we felt so sore. His goodbyes were the last we heard of him, And like a gust of wind he’s gone forevermore. Dying for your country is an “honour”, But really yourself, you get no reward. The world, still lost, like dogs with no collar. Afraid yet fighting like knights with no sword. Why die for peace? If peace, you’ll never see. Why lose your life? If free, you’ll never be.
