September Days Are Here
The sultry summer past, September comes. The warm sun illuminates the world and all its creatures. The clouds above are high and wispy. Softly the breeze blows, gently caressing my face and fondly lingering there. The first hot air balloon of the season drifts by, as quiet as a mouse. Every so often, its burners roar, sending it higher into the sky. From down below, I wave ‘hello’ to the man in the basket. The air around me is alive with hushed confusion, whispering of the change of season. The scent of harvested grain fields wafts through the air. The roadsides are lined with a radiant glow. The trees glitter with tumbling leaves. Summer’s locusts are still rasping, though, shrill and bold. In the evening, cool shadows fall. Along the eastern sky, the harvest moon appears. It takes off and sinks upward, rising above the horizon. It is redly burning, symbolizing the winter ahead. Yes, September days are here, With summer’s best of weather and autumn’s best of cheer.
