Postcards From Oblivion
Postcards From Oblivion I dreamed you reached out to me last night Just to tell me it still wasn't right As if you thought it would be news Darling, these nightmares could be dreams We can shy away from yellow screams Either way we're singing blues Can't fix a problem that's not even addressed So don't check your mailbox Cause it's gonna be a mess Unpaid bills for past due thrills Unsent rain checks for looks that could kill And I'm dying to pay off my debts Perfection be a four letter word And love, eleven, at least Opposites of indifference occurred Turns out, I was just one third Finding fractions for me, absurd Just want to be a peace Not afraid of the pain It never bothered me too much Coming to embrace the rain The only thing that makes me feel alive Hands on with a stove too hot to touch Quench the nerve with heat to treat it Heal it, hurt it, and repeat it. Build myself a callous calm Failure as a comfort zone No surprises and no qualm Rather be alone if I am alone Choosing to be choiceless If I ever had a voice... I wouldn't sell it for less Sending postcards from Oblivion It's kinda nice this time of year Still stuck in this obsidian Rock and a hard place Eroding my face Darkness never seemed so clear
