Follow Me
The simple instruction “Follow me” so often makes life easier for those like me who have difficulty finding places and things. How many times have I breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing those words? “Follow me” can be a great challenge, though, for a Christian whose faith sometimes wavers, for one who tends to stray from the fold. Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross DAILY, and follow me.”* I can’t speak for others, but denying self does not come easily to me. The Disciples left jobs and homes to follow Him. What have I left behind to follow Him? Taking up one’s cross may not seem so challenging until the powerful word “daily” is added. The cure for my weakness is sincere prayer.** If I ask, trusting in the Lord and His Word, to be strengthened and to have peace, if I do not ask amiss, selfishly, He will hear and answer in His own time. *Luke 9:23: And he said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."* ** New King James Version “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
