How many times have I breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing those words? “Follow me” can be a great challenge, though, for a Christian whose faith sometimes wavers, for one who tends to stray from the fold. Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross DAILY, and follow me.”* I can’t speak for others, but denying self does not come easily to me. The Disciples left jobs and homes to follow Him. What have I left behind to follow Him? Taking up one’s cross may not seem so challenging until the powerful word “daily” is added.
