Smelling
SMELLING Specific smell recall reminiscences. Nostalgia touches my core of heart pulling almost forgotten past from abyss of abandoned chapters of life. I sink sometime to childhood sometimes to bygone golden days of youth. Particular sense of smell churn me, whirling, swirling, twirling in vortex of redolence. When joyous jasmine spread sacred aroma, it’s soothing scent reaches nose, I recollect my affectionate Grandma. In my childhood, she was so close. From her garden, charms of blossoms rose. Since then I feel mesmerised on typical fragrance of Jasmine. Also that was most favourite fragrance of my dearest Dad. Scent of Jasmine still carry sweet memories associated with my father : My Idol, Philosopher and Guide. Charm of smell of gorgeous night queen remind me of my delightful romantic wedding day. Scent of Gardenia was most alluring to my Mom. On her funeral I offered garland of gardenia: Flowers plucked from my garden. Since then fragrance of gardenia brings me melancholy. My olfactory nerves are keen to invent smell of new books getting in hand. That nascent smell reminds my excitement of new school texts to buy on demand. Smell of new books still carry errand of my school days. Few special dishes are favourite to my daughters. holding typical nice flavours. I have given up to prepare those items since they are pursuing their own lives far away leaving their childhood on my lap. When they come to visit me, I relish that charming flavour preparing those dishes for them. My sense of smell is too strong either to enjoy nice fragrance or to get irritated with bad odour even in slightest proportion. I have realised and noticed : Memories either morose or merry, regarding romance or emotion or any sensational issue, are tangled with some sort of aroma roaming through my olfactory nerves.
