Dawn's Early Light
Pop was a devoted fly-fisherman who woke in the quiet predawn hours and stumbled, blurry-eyed out of the house with his loaded thermos in his hand. He hoisted his flat-bottom boat on top of his truck, drove to a nearby lake where he lowered his boat into the water. He cranked the outboard engine into action and navigated through the murky waters taking note of the invisible currents and the direction of the wind blowing across the lake. He eventually anchored his boat near the shoreline, disembarked, and stood at the water’s edge casting his lure into the open water never knowing what he’d reel in. Often, he gazed at the water for hours believing he could get a fish to bite on the lure and then pull that fish from the realm of the silent, mysterious water into his boat. When Pop did catch a fish, he removed the hook from its mouth and more frequently than not released it back into the peaceful lake from whence it came. dawn by the lake daylight has barely arrived mist dances gently silent morning mist line cast, waiting for a bite nature’s peace and thrill
