A Birthday Prayer
Dear God, as captain of my life, You’ve steered me through life’s storms and strife, And brought me to Port sixty-two, Despite the stormy winds that blew. Ere since I gave my life to you, I’ve fixed my eyes, kept you in view. You’ve been my counselor and guide, As I traverse life’s ocean wide. Oh, how the months and years have flown, As our relationship has grown. You’re not just God, you are my friend, And our friendship will never end. Today, I pause to celebrate, Another year on this dear date. I praise you for your faithfulness, Through each new day of toil and stress. Thanks for the ways you’ve blessed my life, With health, sharp mind, and a wise wife. I pledge to be Your servant true, And faithful friend to mankind too. As we depart Port sixty-two I place my total trust in You. Knowing that at the very end, Eternity with you I’ll spend.
