Dark Shadows
my best girlfriend remembers our Catholic school days and me running home to gaze at Dark Shadows that beach ball stuck in the rafters the one I blew up the chlorine makes me cry my lungs explode with laughter why do we hide from our former selves those selfish fiends the answers captured in letters, photography and things we gave away they retain a vision under the veil my fingerprints on the eucharist table holding onto the penguin’s hem my rosary dangling on a frozen bush awakening a path to my house because my friend was flying off she’s taken former thoughts i’m too embarrassed to recall pieces of me surrendered to the past and i think of these as i view my dad’s video the tribute to my mom who was she… she was more than i knew and she was everything
