The Lack of Light
It's just happened again From fine to not Like some twines or vines have got me caught The sun it shines, had spring in my step Then the pain appears within my chest I'll distract with work, have a complex job Focus my thoughts, clear the fog The whole of my ribs begin to ache Just nothing at all makes my heart re-break I'll hug my family, stroke the dog Ahh the dog is sat in a solo sunbeam Clearly lost in a peaceful dream I think I've just swallowed too many tears Failed to untangle old indecipherable fears Put barriers up to feeling like that again Feel pressure exerted from old repressed pain I'm the semi broken girl who lets the light shine in That can't keep it lit because it's not from within I need a light source of my own Maybe then I'll rest easy and feel home
