Ghost
Ghost Fear, Bewilderment, Tension, Disbelief, Denial Emotions, All of which Can be evoked Following the use Of the word in question, No matter the situation Like those occasions When you find yourself Sitting up in bed In the midst of the inky blackness Of the midnight hour, While the harsh wind Beats its ferocious fists On your roof and walls, And the trees desperately claw At the windows, Trying to dig into your abode To escape from the horrid weather You glance at the mirror Hanging far across the room Reflecting the image Of your open door, And the dark corridor beyond And somehow, Your eyes convince you That you had just witnessed An ambiguous Yet nearly human form Float past your doorway But Upon investigation, You come away empty-handed As there is no sight Of anybody, Or anything Surely, As most people do, You dismiss your sightings As a mere paranoid hallucination, A trick of the eye Woven by the cruel devils Of drowsiness Even so, No matter what you did Or did not see, "Ghost" is still a word, And words, themselves, Do not care, Do not attach importance To what you think Of their definitions Because they will still exist, Even long, long after You no longer do
