I Do Love It, Way Up There Alone and Alone
I Do Love It, Way Up There Alone And Alone The old albatross that hung out in our red barn Watched me as a child, as a child I played I spoke of it, kids cried out that is a yarn Ahh but, alba did not care, for there he stayed He'd speak to me directly if I was alone Ask me all about my school days and all my life Told me he was getting way old, old as a stone That he had no children, never had a fine wife I asked what he did, all day while I was gone He said, fly I above the clouds soaring, soaring I do love it, way up there alone and alone Some days seeing nothing, is quite boring, boring Seeing Mother earth glide on by so slow, so slow But on those bright sunny days all is sparkling so His time is numbered, and he so hates to go When I grow older this true story I would know. I asked what he did, all day while I was gone. I do love it, way up there alone and alone. Robert J. Lindley, 18 verse sonnet sept 8th 1971
