Overcoming Child Abuse: Poetic Resilience
From my abuse cast by tormented darkest nights, My childhood danced to my stepfather's cruel delight. By burning my finger's and using broom handles. Abuse's tendrils wove a web so tight, Yet within such pain, my spirit took flight. Through words unspoken, pain found release, In verse, I found solace, a sanctuary, my inner peace. Each line a testament, my heart's gentle lease, Healing the scars, granting my soul's release. On ink-stained pages, I sculpted my pain, Forging resilience from wounds that even now remain. With every poem, I broke the chains, Embracing the power that healing sustains. From darkness emerged a phoenix, reborn, The pen my sword, with courage my birth. No longer defined by the terrors once borne, I found redemption, my spirit untorn. In verses woven with hope and might, I bloomed, like a flower in morning light. Though scars persist, I now stand upright, A testament to strength, a survivor's respite. Through shattered fragments, a voice emerged, Echoing triumph over battles submerged. With each poem written, my spirit surged, Defying the past, my soul now converged. I am the poet, a survivor's decree, Transcending anguish, setting myself free. Through words I conquer, my truth, decree, For poetry is the salve that can mend you and me.
