A Home
Placed 9th in: A Brian Strand Premiere No. 1224 Poetry Contest “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,” - Timothy 1:6A Home Built on the solid rock of love,* Clinching with the cement of trust And the bricks of faith from above It has withstood the test of time, The rigours of stern summer storms And the wilful, windy, winter clime. Lit by the lovely light of truth, It exhales the scent of peace, Recalls the memory of youth, Echoes the balm of parental care, The sounds of divine songs And is a true inviting lair To rest after a daily fare. It is just a haven of harmony, A temple of the gem of amity, A real shrine of understanding Where flowers the life of family That breathes out the joy of living and airs out the gusts of happiness It has wide windows to allow Fresh air to caress its four walls, Large front doors to duly welcome Friends and devotees for a call To a round of solemn Prayers at the weekly, fortnightly or monthly fall. Basking in the shine of the sun, it`s a small house, but a big home, With some tall trees arching the dome And birds chanting their own hymns, Where even the Lord may wish to rest and the home to divinely pick and bless. Not for any mansion or worldly palace, Not for any treasure of the earthly sphere I would ever wish to quit this unique place Where lies buried my parental footprints, But for some heavenly solace When the Lord for me will toll I the bell at the _______ end of my trip.
