Boundless
1)The Awakening I know when fantasies became boundless, it was the first time I sat on the pier; Bellowing aqua swells rolled in endless the ocean’s melody hung in my ear; Suddenly the size of a grain of sand and yet there was nothing I couldn’t do; I held the world in the palm of my hand looked across the way and then I saw you; A nautical photo posed on a rock flyaway hair and a face that was scarred; Not sure if it was sunburn or mild shock it appeared to me that you were a guard; Like a lighthouse you sat so dutifully staring at the sea exactly like me. 2)The Desire Staring at the sea exactly like me I still wonder what you were looking for; Marveling at the waves so intently you were sitting a little far from shore; In an instant the decision was made, I had to know what your cadence was like; Even at this hour the eyes were like jade the crazy in me was starting to spike; I threw my hands up and started to shout trying to avoid getting soaking wet; Desperately seeking the shortest route diving in was as good as it would get; Hoping for a sandbar but had no clue I knew I would have to swim out to you. 3)The Sea I knew I would have to swim out to you so ‘Carpe Diem’ I said with a jump; Answers I was determined to pursue while careful to avoid any speed bump; Currents did not cause a single problem in fact they appeared to be aiding me; My legs were starting to get a bit numb luckily there was no sign of debris; It felt like I was never to arrive; Stuck out at sea I was feeling a fool; Fueled by desire and getting there alive I kept swimming ignoring every rule; I would get my questions in with a wedge Now it was my turn I hit the rock’s edge. 4)The Fire Now it was my turn I hit the rock’s edge; The fastest movement of my entire life was when I raced up that slippery ledge; Glad to be done with this watery strife; I had been loud and gotten no answer you were sitting gazing there so stoic; I remember the waves started to stir there was no gesture that I could mimic; Careful not to scare you I said ‘Hello?’ Tried to table all my intense wonder, it was hard because I wanted to know; Words I had to control from a stutter; Heart skipping the situation was dire quickly I saw eyes flickering with fire. 5) Tidal Waves Quickly I saw eyes flickering with fire but still not a single word was spoken; Eager to discover what would transpire, the tale I’m sure had a shark or kraken; If I mulled over what could lurk below in the abyss there could be many more; Far beyond the perilous undertow there had to be creatures not seen before; Why did I not pause and really think first? What if I could never again go free? My gut felt like it was about to burst; Tidal waves of fear started to pound me; Anxiety back again. Oh awesome. Intrusive thoughts are quick to overcome. 6)The Real Intrusive thoughts are quick to overcome, especially when you’re stuck in silence; I relaxed as soon as I heard the hum; Your song mingled with indigenous plants; Close enough now for a real encounter there still had not been any words spoken; What language you spoke I was still unsure I surmised your voice would be the ocean; Suddenly the song picked up a new pace building into a fuller melody; Not a muscle was moving on your face needing lips to sing was.a fallacy; Right now this moment felt very surreal I looked at your fin wrap merfolk were real. 7)The Knowledge I looked at your fin wrap merfolk were real, but why had you risen to the surface? Maybe that swim was to help the sea heal, perhaps it was for another purpose; Then that hum became a coherent thought ‘Don’t you already know why we are here? Notice the wildlife that has been forced out? If you stop and listen then you will hear. Humans are not the only life on Earth. We are here to protect every creature. Even the microscopic have their worth.’ Truly it seemed you were here to nurture; I knew as you were telling your story knowledge wasn’t handed out to bury.
