At a Crossroad
At a Crossroad ** Treading down the I I journey of life Through thickets, I I thorns and tortuous lanes, I reached a I ~ I critical crossroad Where three roads I ~ I defied my tender brain To impact on I~ ~ I my future load. I ~ I The west- bound I ~ I road was large and even, With skyscrapers I~ I all along its height, Musical sounds I ~ I that could deafen The ears and sheer I ~ I glittering wealth That often turned I ~ I to a burden. I ~ I The second road I ~ I quite eastward bound, Rather rough, I ~ I rugged and narrow Smelt of sweet I ~ I incense all around And echoed I ~ I devotional songs With chanting of I ~ ~ I hymns on the ground. I I The third road, I ~ I just sprawling ahead, Was chilly, startling I ~ I and daunting And offered no I ~ ~ I glimpse going forward; Moving ahead I ~ ~ I was like making A bounce in the I ~ ~ I immense unknown. ---------------------------- I I ----------------------------- ------------------------------ ---------------------------- * / At the crucial / ^ / crossroad of life Knowing not along / ^ / which road to strive I closed my eyes \ ! \ to the surrounds And delved deep \ ! \ down my inner self To guide me on \ ! \ my way around. / ! / Soon a clearly / ! / visible light From within, / ! / from my inner self, A self-sufficing \ ! \ light, deep bright, Drawing its fuel \ ! \ from my faith And my trust in / ! \ the Supreme Lord Beckoned me to / ! / follow its trace. / ! / In the midst of / ! / sheer solitude, I trailed after / ! / the divine light Braced with the \ ! \ shield of fortitude Through a maze of \ ! \ deep frost and mist Along a path \ ! \ buried in quietude And travelled / ! / only by a few. / ! / I stalked the light / ! / for miles and miles, For days and days, / ! / for years and years When it dawned \ ! \ upon me with smiles Towards the end \ \ of my journey That the light led \ ! \ me to the road, Glittering with / ! / brightness and sunny, Beyond the bounds / ! / of spirituality To the divine / ! / sphere of eternity. **Jeremiah 6:16 This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls..."
