O' Yes the Magic Power In That Massive Ancient Tree
O' Yes The Magic Power In That Massive Ancient Tree Down the magic forest trail, lay the ancient tree Its gnarled limbs, eroded bark and massive height I found that it had a magic effect upon me Never more so than viewing under gleaming moonlight Many times, I did that and each time was a pure joy As golden rays illuminated its magic powers True, I was back then just a poor ole country boy Slaving away on the farm, many tiresome hours See more good now that I am advanced in years And find this darken world has beat hell out of me Many a time, I could take no more, then fell tears I had chased my treasure without the damn gold key I do remember when the massive tree first spoke How it ranted and chastised my young wandering soul Sharp were those wisdom words, how life is not a joke Mustn't we understand, oft life takes heavy toll. Down the magic forest trail, lay the ancient tree How it taught a rampaging young lad life ain't free How it survived likely over hundred years Now, I see its great power, and it amazes me! Down the magic forest trail, lay the ancient tree I do pray to God that's werein they bury me. Robert J. Lindley, 6-09-2023 Rhyme Note __ I was talking to a friend this morning. He too mentioned that ancient tree. He asked me, had I ever written about it in my poetry. I replied no I have not. But today I will rectify that grievous error. And the poem above thus was born.
