When News That You Come, Came Knocking
Words that you come came knocking at Door, whole house hummed with her fragrance. The eve, your memories still wet, Then whole town hummed with her fragrance. All night I mused upon the date, All night heart hummed with her fragrance. Old memories made mind fuss, fret, All my gaze hummed with her fragrance. Moment or two where so she sat, The whole town hummed with her fragrance. ________________________________________ Ghazal |07.05.2023| Reminiscing Poet’s note: This ghazal is not set on traditional lines. There is rhyme (kaafia in Urdu) and there also is refrain (radeef). Here, the rhyme comes in the first line of each couplet (called a sher) and the refrain comes in the second (‘hummed with her fragrance’ in this ghazal).
