The Same Heart
A reminder for us adults…a lesson, as children, we were taught… A lesson, unfortunately, through the years…some of us have forgot. As she sat upon his lap her lips began to quiver and tears fell from her eyes. “That boy called me ugly Daddy! Why would he say that…why?” “It is perplexing,” her dad said hugging her, “how the same heart can contain… the ability to create words that bring us comfort… as well as words that cause us pain. How the same heart that can create words of wonder…words of beauty… words that fill a heart with joy can also produce words of anger…words of spite… words that can an innocent heart…destroy. “It is not you but that boys heart that's ugly.” He said. “For in each heart we hold the key as we gaze upon the world… as to how much beauty we will see.” “I am truly sad he called you ugly.” He told her. “But I think I’m even sadder by far…. that his ugly heart may never let him see… just how beautiful you are.”
