Spring
Spring has come. With it grass and tree buds, its flowers and colours and sun. Yet I do not feel its warmth. That has died long ago, when are friendship did so as well. I see and smell the joys of spring, yet without you, it all seems dull. I do not long for you but rather for what once was. Our fond memories, laughter shared, warm smiles. It is your warm smile that has disappeared, has taken with it the joys of life. Yet I continue on, as though this emptiness was meaningless, if it is meaningless. How quick the seasons change, from chilly winter to sunny spring. Still, there is the winter wind now and again, reminding of times with cozy clothes and shared hot drinks. But here it is: Spring. I watch the flower beds fill and the days grow longer, see the people soaking up the sun and the fresh scent of earth and grass. All, without you. Without my friend. Spring has come, with strangers whose faces once known, now forgotten.
