Mama Told Me
Mama told my first role was to reflect my beauty Not covering it up It’s my role to stand pretty and not show sad emotions And whenever I mis-step or stoop to low I just say “Thank you kind sir” My true emotions can never show so it doesn’t displease anyone (Hello? Can you hear me?) Oops… you weren’t supposed to see that Mama told me my second role was to act beautiful Not becoming ugly The mirror mirror on the wall should tell me I’m better than them all The magic tales of their youth should be in me And whenever I made a mistake or messed up I just say “It’s my pleasure, sir” My true emotions can never show so it doesn’t displease anyone (Hello? Help me!) Oops… you weren’t supposed to see that Mama told me my third role was to keep going Not look back and say something I’m an appetite to anyone who sees me but I should never exude it I should stay put because quiet girls are pretty girls And whenever I'm caught off guard with my hands tied and back against the wall With only the darkness to my companion and the tears as my testament I just say “ Please be less rough sir” My true emotions can never show so it doesn’t displease anyone (Hello? Help me!) Oops… you weren’t supposed to see that… never suppose to see that Never suppose to see me, never suppose hear me… never suppose to heart the pulsating of my heart as it sings the song of humanity being dried out from my veins until what’s left is dust of all I could've been if you could’ve seen that
