As the bud of my being started to unfurl, I didn’t realize the bloom would have sunset tinge, tarnished by the shadow of the dark cloud of the looming storm, signaling the birth of death. As the cloud with ominous clutch descended, the swathe of love in my life it shrouded, I felt it take away from me when my mother died, and her mortal entity turned into ashes. In the deluge of the surging river of sorrow in the broken heart, crushed by anguish, I felt my senses sink in despondent depth within with my essence once ebullient in her presence. As from the eroded bank of my desolate existence, I perceived my time with her disappear in the surge of the devastating flood of grief, I breathed the air of dismal isolation. I then heard the whisper of the ethereal breeze, passing me by with the tune of the swan song, resonating with the disembodied rhythm, and with the melody of acuity her soul made for me. I lifted from the debris of desolation, the slices of remembrance not yet demolished, and traveled inward with the meditative resolve to preserve in my soul’s vase the flower, my mother. ______________ April 3, 2023 Contest : Death Of A Loved One Sponsored by : Unseeking Seeker
