One day... I was just a kid I was gentle and kind I was sweet and innocent I was a soul sublime You were my whole world You were my whole heart How is it that our parents Are the ones who tear us apart? Who knows why it happens? Who knows why they do it? Who knows what the future holds? Who knows if we'll get through this? My heart became broken Bit by bit through each trauma My soul became weighed down By every single encounter But I was resilient each time I tried to hold on to faith I tried to hold on to hope And planned my final escape I left home with determination To be completely different to my folks Learning such harsh life lessons At too young an age to truly cope And yes, I am damaged I have darkness I had to fight I've worked through ancestral issues And set my soul free to the Light I'm a grown-up now And I try to make good choices To be a Lightworker and Earth Angel And listen to Heaven's voices © Michelle Morris, 2023
