The Cost of War Through Peace
"The Cost of War through Peace" She had spent some elaborate time with snakes, learning their ways, yet in the very back of her mind, in her memories, she remembered the stories told long ago, the sleepy songs sung; curiously, they were always delivered in the dark, as she drifted off to sleep, when she was very young she had distant memories as an innocent, hugging tightly, snuggling into her mother’s curves, recalling lyrics of a particular myth-like song it made her smile and she teared up for just a little while, recalling the sound of her mother’s voice, the message in the labyrinthine mystery word-for-word, it was pegged to lines in the hidden sentences like wet clothing drying to be worn she never forgot her roots and the warm beating of the other’s heart, the music and the rhythm she first heard in utero, that which sang in her first home, more like a nightingale than a loon or lost note losing lark oh, the comfort it did incite, was like a magnet not a metronome, a shining internal compass, still functional, the direction with purpose and instinct never misinterpreted, it was placed there in her heart to guide her home the message in the myth remembered and delivered, was now clearly heard and succinctly understood: the wisdom of an owl the strength of a lion the shedding of skin and teeth, through transformative ordeal, the toppling of towers, the acquisition of courage, truth and inherited powers; when harnessed the snake has its merits the scales of justice turned inside out, through dark to light, she had learnt most adroitly through warring round-abouts, like a snake’s skin, injustice could be shed oh, yes, it’s true the sorry scales of wrapped up courts their quick judging kangaroos so corrupt and versatile, like a snake’s skin, could be shed and burnt but what her mother gave her first and last, even with her absence, she thanked her just the same, for she was now masterclass - they had wings to fly higher than a snake - so very high and fast, inbuilt echolocation like Apodidae to never doubt herself, a belief and faith in who she really was, to remember lessons delivered from the scourge of underworld then to emerge from shadows to journey northward, further upwards, towards big blue sky, that which some call, Adonai to never hesitate to win the war at whatever the cost, through peace - that was very real.
