The Man Who Hung the Stars
March 19, 2023, is a day I will never forget, You see, that is the day that my Daddy left. Not in the way you may think. For he had gone to Heaven in a blink. I was on my way to visit, one last mountain to climb. Yet, by mere minutes God had decreed it was Daddy’s time. As I sat in that chair, screaming “No no no no no!” My older sister insisted it was very much so. After the wailing and crying I never felt so alone, Yet, I was comforted that it was Jesus who took him Home. Though I was sad and numb, the memories started to pour. Memories of good times, lessons learned, and believe it or not, our chores. Our daddy always told us tales that left everyone awed, No one would ever doubt that he believes in God. To his daughters, he hung the moon and stars, Especially when teaching how to ride a bike with handlebars. Our daddy was very special. He never took a day off. Not even when he was sick and had a bad cough. I remember being a child, there was nothing our daddy couldn’t do. But all of a sudden there were grandchildren and greats, that time just flew. We all have many different memories of his time. We have so many to discuss, we’ll hear about him in his prime. He was a good husband & partner to our Mama Faye. That there is no doubt they will meet again someday. Our daddy was always a curious one. When he was just a mere boy He took the coffee table apart to make a sled, I’m sure he was full of joy. Though when he got home there was no joy to be found As his mom and dad made him housebound. My daddy was inquisitive, He kept taking things apart to see how they worked. He would then put it back together correctly, That always left him perked. Our daddy was never deterred. His mind was always hardworking That it was no surprise he later started sheet-metal machine working. His sisters, I know will miss him so, day and night But one won’t be missing him tying her to that lighting pole so tight. Our daddy is a man of honor, but he did have his jokester side, No one was immune, however, none of his jokes were ever snide. March 22, 2023, for those of us, left to cry and mourn We will be sending him off, at his bequest, fully adorn. His wife, children, grandchildren, plus many more will all cry, But all of us know that this is not our last goodbye, We all love you Daddy, James Allan Nash We hope the time to see you again seems to go by in a flash. © Kristy De La Keur Scoville
